The primary purpose of this position is to monitor and implement established Security Management and Personnel Security Programs while providing oversight of all Personnel Security Programs for all assigned military, civilian, and contractor personnel. Responsibilities Processes completed investigations, protects sensitive information ensuring total confidentiality Reviews, establishes, and maintains Incident Reporting. Assists in the overall management of the Information Security Program. Assists in the administration of the Security Education and Training Program for information, personnel, and industrial security programs. Perform administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with supervisors and commanders. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NK-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-07 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience which includes resolving a wide variety of complex security clearance problems that require choosing alternative responses through coordination with Wing Security Managers, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Adjudication and Vetting Services (AVS), Office of Personnel Management (OPM), and higher headquarters while monitoring and maintaining the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) database to include provide guidance and clarification to unit personnel on security clearance requirements, submitting initial and periodic personnel security investigations, and associated documentation for appropriateness, completeness, and accuracy, and conduct local files check ensuring the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) database contains precise information Ideal Candidate Statement (cannot be used for qualification determination): Ideal candidate would have basic knowledge of Security Assistant duties to include experience with Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and National Background Investigation Services (NBIS). The candidate would be able to produce and maintain security incident paperwork. Best Qualified to me would be: Candidate would have experience with submitting paperwork to the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and Adjudication and Vetting Services (AVS). . KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of common and specialized security methods, rules, regulations, and principles to provide technical work and assist personnel in security administration and perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard security assignments and resolve problems. Knowledge of procedures, forms, and information and confidentiality requirements related to sensitive personal information to request security investigations and submit to the appropriate government agency. Knowledge of what constitutes derogatory information, the supporting data required to complete adjudication determinations, and understanding of clearance adjudication processes and the information/criteria required. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information. Support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects and ability to locate, assemble, and compose information for reports, inquiries, and limited technical correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
