job summary:

A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Mossville, IL area. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components, with a focus on power electronics and collaboration across teams.

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.

Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess time and cost feasibility.

Investigate equipment failures and issues to diagnose problems and recommend solutions to maintenance crews.

Assist drafters in developing structural designs using tools, equipment, or software.

Work with power conversion application engineering groups to establish application architecture and electrical requirements for power electronics components/systems.

Collaborate with MBDs on NPI (New Product Introduction) and NTI (New Technology Introduction) machine/product programs.

Develop design concepts and 3D models for low voltage power electronics inverter and converter systems.

Skills:

Proficiency in making sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations; reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics; using CAD software.

Creativity, verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, teamwork.

Product development experience (design/analysis).

Education and Experience:

Associates Degree in a related field plus minimum 10 years of experience, or

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) plus 5 years of experience, or

Masters or Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 2 years of experience.
