Team Leader – Finishing

The finishing Team Leader is responsible for safety, personnel, quality, production, equipment, and all other activities occurring in or related to the finishing department.
Safety
Help develop safety rules, procedures, and proactive measures to ensure a safe working environment
Hold employees accountable for working within the rules and proactively identifying and removing hazards
Report all near misses, incidents, first aid rendered, or unsafe working conditions to the Plant Manager and Safety Manager immediately without exception
Responsible for the safety and well-being of self and employees
Personnel
Coach, train, develop, and guide shift employees.
Resolve conflict between employees and maintain good working relationships inside the department.
Organize job assignments of employees on the shift.
Engage and empower employees to reduce hazards, improve quality, and increase efficiency through team building and inclusion.
Understand and follow all applicable rules, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws related to human resource activities.
Work with plant management as appropriate for a-e above.
Quality
Ensure all quality procedures and equipment are maintained and being used appropriately.
Work with Quality Manager and other employees to improve quality in the department.
Perform quality checks every hour on all gluers and formers, fill out quality check sheet
Perform quality checks at the beginning and middle of shift in the cutting department and fill out check sheet for WIP inspection.
Production
Safety always takes priority over production.
Ensure all DMS boards, checklists, and production reports are being filled out completely and correctly
Follow all steps of the PE processes (DEC,5S,ER) including training of employees on check sheets/sweep sheets and all applicable duties to adhere to the PE process.
Support daily shift production efforts as needed.
Ensure production goals, standards, and metrics for the finishing department are being met every shift. If not being met there should be an action plan in place to bring machines, crews, or processes up to standards.
Maintain product safety.
Drive continuous improvement efforts.
Maintenance & Equipment
Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment, including part orders, preventive/predictive maintenance, emergency maintenance, and outside contractor efforts.
Responsible for the safe continuous operation of all equipment during your shift.
All equipment will be kept in good repair and cleaned to be suitable for food contact packaging.
Housekeeping
Oversees and delegates housekeeping duties in assigned area.
Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the department during your shift.
