eVinci Principal Nuclear Design Engineer

The eVinci microreactor is the latest in next-generation nuclear reactor designs using Westinghouses proprietary heat pipe technology. This position will have the opportunity to work on advanced reactor systems in design and testing with responsibilities in research, development, and design of our microreactor applications in commercial, defense, industrial, sea and space applications.

This position will work in a hybrid environment based in Etna, PA.

Job Responsibilities

In this position the engineer can expect to be responsible for the following:

Perform nuclear and mechanical design of reactor core, nuclear components and radiation shielding through 3D modeling (Inventor, etc) and analysis software (ANSYS, MCNP, SCALE, SERPENT, etc)
Perform reactor engineering design and analysis calculations related neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, or radiation for steady state and transient conditions, including transport & Monte Carlo methods
Evaluate different phases of the nuclear fuel lifecycle from enrichment through decommissioning as well as criticality safety from fabrication, transport, operation, and post-operation
This position may involve evaluations of international and domestic safeguards and non-proliferation strategies
Familiarity with NRC, DOE, CNSC or IAEA regulations for nuclear design and accident analyses.
Familiarity with common and new nuclear materials and properties for modeling and design
Supervise a small team of engineers to perform design, analysis, and testing scopes of work
Resolve engineering, technology, and manufacturing design challenges through engineering rigor of problems that are only partially defined, requiring experience and knowledge in nuclear system or component development, with preferred experience in First-of-a-Kind development

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
Minimum 7 years of working experience
Preferable internship, co-op, or university laboratory experience in nuclear or radiation field
Bachelors degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering or physics
Preferable to have an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in an engineering field
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an US Government security clearance. Clearance must be maintained without interruption.
Expert experience with nuclear analysis codes such as SERPENT, BISON, GRIFFIN, MCNP, SCALE, etc
Strong computer skills, proficiency in using LINUX (capable of running jobs using super-computers) and proficiency in computer programming/coding
Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills and experience
Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks and perform tasks under pressure
