Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will conduct highly specialized inspections ranging from very difficult to often controversial areas. You will administer a fire protection and prevention training program (e.g., structural firefighting, aircraft crash and rescue response, fire prevention and emergency medical services, etc.) for a fire department. You will Advise building officials on corrective action needed for code violations. You will research technical manuals, fire codes, and trade references to reduce or eliminate fire hazards or conditions. You will inspect a fire station to verify training objectives are accomplished and documented. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications DoD Certifications Required: Fire Officer I and II, Fire Instructor I, NREMT and Incident Safety Officer. For GS-11 – You will also need Fire Instructor II. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard to meet the requirement. For GS 10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing training and safety programs in accordance with regulatory agencies; 2) Managing the development and implementation of emergency medical services training plan; 3) Conducting course research, providing quality assurance, and maintaining budgetary controls for all training requirements; and 4) Completing written reports of program effectiveness, training academics, and study outcomes in order provide recommendations. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Physical Demands: Work requires considerable walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. A portion of duties will be performed under simulated emergency situations for training purposes or under actual emergency situations in the event the incumber is acting in an operational capacity. Work Environment: May be exposed to out-of-control fires, HAZMAT spills, or possible explosions. May suffer burns, dehydrations, and other effects of heat: smoke inhalation, heavy protective clothing, falling materials, or explosions. Subject to physical injury and sensory damage from firefighting activities, exposure to HAZMAT, and high-level noise levels. May deal with victims in emergency situations that may be in varying stages of fright, panic, injury, and shock. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
