Official Position Description:
In Business & Human Resource Office: develops, reviews, & implements health & safety policies & procedures. Develops, implements, & monitors District Safety Program, including annual Safety Plan, & serves as consultant to District Deputy Director, senior staff, County Administrators, & other District managers on safety & health issues. Advises District employees regarding industry & environmental health & safety issues, develops & expands safety programs & evaluates effectiveness for District. Conducts accident investigations to ensure safe work & vehicle operation practices have been followed. Determines fault &/or negligence of employee; recommends discipline &, if necessary, suspension of ODOT driving/operator privileges. &/or directly supervises staff (e.g. provides developmental opportunities, coaches staff to foster development, job satisfaction, assigns work, evaluates performance, recommends discipline if necessary, provide feedback, approves time off, etc.). Reviews & approves goals & objectives proposed by staff. Meets with staff to discuss/evaluate project priorities & progress towards short & long term goals. Utilize quality principles & initiatives as part of routine operations.

Conducts & documents all District health & safety training. Publishes annual training schedule for the District. Identifies employees for training in accordance with Federal & State regulations pertaining to health & safety. Maintains training records for each health & safety program. Ensures qualified instructors are assigned whenever training is scheduled. Attends training programs & seminars. Acts as liaison between ODOT & other agencies. Prepares & delivers speeches for the general public & private sector on health & safety. Serves on joint Labor-Manag
