Overview
Saint Joseph East is a 217-bed full-service community hospital located in the rapidly growing southeastern section of Lexington Kentucky. We provide care for patients in Fayette and surrounding counties. At Saint Joseph East ambulatory surgery 24-hour emergency care and women’s health services are supported through a vast array of inpatient and outpatient program. Additional specialty services include Heart Care Breast Care Sleep Care and Weight Loss Surgery. Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose
Demonstrates an understanding of policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and builds continued competency in order to work independently in the decontamination, sterilization, and sterile storage activities of the department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining an adequate level of instruments necessary for the efficient functioning of customer departments, understanding the equipment and chemicals used in reprocessing reusable instruments and equipment and the ability to use knowledge to implement appropriate processes in a safe and timely manner to include handling and decontamination of soiled instrument, inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilization. Required to provide preceptor support to other employees and an educational program at least once annually to other team members.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
1. Provide quality customer service.
2. Perform duties in a safe manner, to prevent injury to self, patients, visitors or other hospital personnel.
3. Contribute to maintaining supplies and sterile items for use throughout the hospital.
4. Process Code Carts
5. Contribute to the efficient operation of the department.
6. Perform cleaning and decontamination duties.
7. Perform wrapping and packaging duties.
8. Knowledge and identification to assemble instrument sets form all surgical areas and other departments.
9. Perform sterilization and monitoring activities.
10. Other duties as assigned by management.

High school diploma or GED
Required Licensure and Certifications
CRCST certification required within one year of hire
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a sterile processing technician.

$15.61 – $22.34 /hour
