Your responsibilities
Summary:
A Vehicle Dynamics Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the product being produced in Bilstein facilities are meeting all the customer expectations for dynamic performance from the start of a project through EOL (End Of Life). This position will own the damper characteristics from development through industrialization and support the assigned project teams with their expertise and know-how.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
Coordinates vehicle testing events with customers on domestic and international proving grounds (Ride Events)
Available for up to 50% travel to customer proving grounds for ride events during peak season
Prepares Bilstein components, resources, and equipment for each ride event in coordination with internal and external project teams
Documents all activities during ride events including vehicle setups, damper data, valve code information, customer feedback, and suggestions for improvement
Reports on all ride event activities after conclusion and coordinates with future event needs with the internal and external project teams
Responsible for the coordination and build-up of parts for short-term capability studies for damper characteristics including reporting results to the internal and external project teams
Responsible for ensuring damper characteristics adhere to both internal Bilstein standards as well as individual customer specifications
Aligns with system integration department on parameter tuning strategies and specifications for semi-active damper systems
Assists T&I department with vehicle dynamic topics in the development of new passive and semi-active damper systems
Collects and analyzes on-vehicle ride data for objective evaluation
Responsible for leading problem-solving activities related to damper setting problems affecting the vehicles dynamic behavior.
Drive communication between customer vehicle responsible staff and Bilstein project team in regards to dynamics topics
Your profile
Qualifications & Experience:
Several years experience in vehicle dynamics topics with a focus on chassis systems
Experience in vehicle development life cycles including transition from prototype to production vehicle dynamics
Statistical analysis experience with an understanding of capability studies
Valid US drivers license with exceptional safety record
Valid US Passport with ability to travel internationally
Extensive experience with interpreting engineering drawings and models
Experience with measurement technology including load cells, calipers, height gauges, and displacement sensors
Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Outlook, ect.)
Education:
4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering degree
