Description Position Summary The Global Color team supports and drives efforts around the on-going centralization of Color and Proofing across the business. Color & Print Specialists at various levels are needed to bring standardization and centralization for Color and Proofing, and to support the plants in achieving the desired color results at the proofing and press stage. This position will help support the global transition to the new centralized way of working across all plants and regions. This position will work closely with other members of the Color Team, Plant Leads, and Color and Proofing Leads at the operations level. In addition to initial transition, this position will offer ongoing support and troubleshooting for plant locations, as needed. Responsibilities will include color profile analysis and generation in addition to support for color and proofing system. It may also include the creation and measurement of fingerprint forms and project co-ordination opportunities, for technical projects being managed by the color team. Location: Initially needs to be in an SGS Color Hub location, Minneapolis, Toronto, and Cincinnati. At least for the initial 12 months, as experience grows there may be remote options. The position will report into one of the local Color Hub Manager, employee will also need to work closely with PQM, the Press Approval team, Regional Color Managers, and Global Color & Print Directors. Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results Provide technical support for color and proofing at the plant level Develop profiles, dot gain compensations curves, and specify image carrier information Project co-ordination for technical, global projects Validate and on-board supplied profiles Support and maintain color solutions, such as Zepra & GMG Troubleshoot color and proofing related prepress issues Perform print quality evaluations, reports and scorecards as determined by customer print and color management program. Will be required to become an expert in color measurement and related tools (spectrophotometers and software applications). Knowledge of or willingness to learn about color tolerances and color science. Educational & Experience Minimum Requirements This position requires the following knowledge and skills: College level Education in graphics, print, or color management, or equivalent experience 2 years of experience in color measurement and management The ability to generate profiles and curves from fingerprint data Experience in prepress for Offset, Flexo and preferably Gravure An understanding of Extended Gamut Printing Competency Requirements Competent in Microsoft Office Strong organizational, and documentation skills Working knowledge of GMG proofing solution Working Knowledge of Color-Logic, Copra, Zepra, and ColorAnt is preferred, but not essential High attention to detail Self-driven and self-motivated Ability to research a problem and come to solutions in a timely manner Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
