Summary:

The Maintenance Worker / Plumber will assist in the maintenance of the nursing home and associated grounds to maintain the upkeep and appearance. This is a day shift position 7:00AM to 03:30 PM. Usually assigned to one shift but may be assigned to a different shift if there is a need.

Responsibilities:

Assists carpenters, mechanics, electricians, and other maintenance workers as assigned.

Cleans department, mechanical rooms, removes trash/waste and assist with re-cycling as needed.

Complete work orders, preventative work orders, projects and call ins, in order of urgency or as directed by Maintenance Supervisor or Director.

Backup for the Locksmith/Access Control Tech. Completes normal plumbing and HVAC repairs as directed.

Much of the work is repair and maintenance of facilities, sheetrock repair, painting, ceiling tiles, flooring and preparing / turning over rooms for new residents. Also completes resident transport assistance as requested. Conducts Fire Drills.

May be asked to work in other NL Health facilities from time to time.

Repair and maintenance of laundry machines.

Repair and maintenance of facility incl. plumbing, HVAC, patch / paint, flooring, ceiling tiles, furniture.

Plumber’s trainee working toward licensing.

Adheres to all regulations governing healthcare facility.

Install and repair all door types and the hardware including closers.

Conducts FIRE DRILLS.

Complete a daily walk-thru of the facility.

Other Information:

Must have a valid drivers license and minimum of a journeyman plumbers license.

Will be asked to assist maintenance teams in other Northern Light properties.

Will serve every other week in a 24/7 on-call capacity.
