Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist will be accountable for managing supplier relationships, controlling costs, and developing risk management strategies for the CulinArt Stony Brook University.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for reviewing both the purchases & supply chain functions for day-to-day events of processes [ i.e. appropriate vendor utilization, MOG, souring, etc.]
Will work closely with managers and supervisors on site[s] to both assist with efficient operations and to train staff on the benefits, usefulness & “best ways” of performing said duties
Manages the accuracy of term set setup & maintenance (pricing & volume allowance).
Accurately administers pricing and volume allowance processes by working with Category Development Managers.
Performs price verification (supplier price submission vs. established contract price mechanism).
Conducts term set analysis (pricing & rebate); formulates recommendations for improvements and term set consolidation.
Develops detailed understanding of Legal Contracts and ensures that CERES reflects the agreed to commercial terms of the contract.
Maintains the categorization/sub categorization of all catalog items.
Provides excellent customer service and support to internal/external stakeholders.
Supports timely and accurate submission of Retro/Revised billing requests.
Performs various types of analysis by customer/distributor/category/item relative to purchase volume, quantities, pricing and rebates.
Develops product knowledge and understanding of market conditions.
Works with the appropriate internal stakeholders to resolve manufacturer billing discrepancies.
Investigate pricing inquiries from units.
Preferred Qualifications:
organizational skills, reliable, self-motivated, problem solving, takes the initiative, analytical skills, and strong communication skills
completion of undergraduate degree and/or equivalent business experience required
Experience working with units of measure/conversions/discounts and complex calculations/formulas is required
Must have three or more years of experience analyzing large volumes of data
Contract Management experience preferred
Must be able to read and interpret information; write correspondence and deliver accurate reports; present effectively to other employees, suppliers, and/or customers
Advanced level knowledge of Excel required; intermediate knowledge of Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required; advanced knowledge of Ceres (or other rebate/contract management technology) preferred
Distribution or food service experience preferred
Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and collaboratively as part of a team
Assertive, yet capable of building and maintaining effective working relationships
Organized and highly detail-oriented
