Summary The incumbent has full supervisory responsibility over the work operations and employees of the Facilities Engineering Department Grounds/Transportation Section at the Lebanon VAMC. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities include: Supervisory Duties: 60% Plan, schedule and sets priorities for work assignments. Provide technical and administrative supervision to individuals through subordinate leader. Review and analyzes records and reports of work production, costs, and equipment and staff resource utilization to evaluate progress and to control or reduce costs. Proficient in software programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word. Establish performance standards and evaluates the performance of subordinate leader and employees, makes determinations on grievances, recommends training, and approves leave of subordinate employees. Plan, coordinate, and supervise all grounds and roads related maintenance. Vehicle Management: 25% Ensure all VA-owned vehicle expenses have been reconciled in a timely manner. Address any concerns if repairs, maintenance, or any other issue that would hinder the operation of a vehicle. Review all fixed route special mode transports for wheelchair shuttles, buses, vans, and provides trip verification. Conducts annual inventory of all non-expendable property assigned to the section listed in the Consolidated Memorandum Receipt (CMR). Assures that safety rules are properly adhered to within the section and during motor vehicle operations. Non-Supervisory Duties: 15% Operate equipment and assist team when high workloads are in demand. Work as a team member within Engineering department performing walk throughs of projects, acting as a subject matter expert for the facility grounds maintenance. Review blueprints to ensure upcoming projects will meet facility needs. Responsible for monitoring completion of job and equipment maintenance records completely and accurately. Review the performance of comprehensive maintenance and repair, including preventive maintenance, installation and modification on all equipment utilized by the grounds department. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent must be in good physical condition, capable of lifting in excess of 50lbs, working in inclement weather such as extreme hot and cold temperatures. The incumbent will require bending, kneeling, in awkward positions while working on equipment and on rough terrain. Noisy, dirty, and dusty environments.
