Summary:

Responsible for the scheduling of exams and dispersion of exam images and reports in the Radiology department. Responsible for maintaining patient imaging records in accordance with Federal and State requirements including HIPAA compliancy. Assures all completed exams have been resulted and transcribed properly, and the reports dispersed as per hospital procedures.

Responsibilities:

Patients and families are serviced in providing quality and efficient radiology services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Ensures that contacts with physician, and other healthcare team members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school or equivalent; vocational/specialized training in medical terminology; typing and computer operation.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Minimum of one-year experience with medical transcription, medical billing, or records management, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Able to read and understand medical terminology; computer skills; effective communication and writing/composition skills; secretarial training; mathematical skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; ability to work without supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Stressful and demanding at times; some overtime and weekend work required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

Moderate to heavy lifting; standing, walking, sitting, finger and hand dexterity.
