Starr RegionalMedical Centeris currently seeking talent to fill the position ofPatient Access Clerkfor ourRegistration/AdmittingDepartment.This job is permanent,full-time.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:
Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained andentered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
Meets with patient or patients caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation.Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
Communicates with admitting physicians office, nursing unit staff, and/or otherappropriate personnelregardingadmission to exchange necessary information anddetermineplacement.
Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorizationas necessary.Determinesand accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.

Minimum EducationHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience: □ Preferred X Required
