Job Summary

This is a 32 hour a week position that coordinates development and daily implementation of IDS programs emphasizing the provision of educational supports and resources for families of children and youth with disabilities receiving special education services and requiring behavioral support; assists in providing training and community outreach events; and provides direct support to families of children and youth with disabilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinates collaborative outreach and education to new and established family resource providers.

Provides input for developing and conducting statewide trainings pertaining to family need for support and core outcomes.

Collaborates with Assistant Director to develop and disseminate the mission, vision, and an action plan for meeting the resource needs of families of children and youth with disabilities.

Coordinates outreach activities designed to identify families who are eligible for family special education advocacy support and to identify groups who are under-served or unserved including K-12 students at risk of suspension and expulsion.

Coordinates and conducts family intakes and review of educational documentation and behavioral evaluations of families seeking support.

Coordinates with local educational agency personnel and families regarding educational meetings and planning.

Collaborates with the research coordinator in the implementation of the project evaluation and reporting process. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in special education, counseling or other behavioral sciences and a minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting and working with families and behavioral support for children and youth.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in the education advocacy field and/or with persons with disabilities; Knowledge of special education law, the ADA and the processes that govern special education policies and procedures; Excellent communication and conflict resolutions skills and ability to form collaborative relationships;
