Maintenance Technician

The purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to provide maintenance to all Weaver Popcorn facilities.

Responsibilities

Safety

– Ensures equipment, machinery, tools, and other items used by technician are operated properly.
– Understands how to handle machines properly during an emergency, which includes power outages, machine failure, workplace injuries, etc.
– Ensures knowledge of state and federal workplace safety regulations, including OSHA and how they relate to the Weaver work environment.
– Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
– Understands and performs Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and has the ability to train and mentor others in compliance.
– Has a very good understanding of Arc-Flash hazards and procedures and possesses the ability to train others in proper compliance with Arc-Flash rules.
– Trains other maintenance technicians on safety procedures and guidelines
– Informs superintendent or manager of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately.
– Must consider safety concerns with respect to instrumentation, controls, and equipment.

Quality

– Follows plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMPs
– Assists in ensuring all department facilities, shops, and offices are compliant with 5S and SQF standards for cleanliness and visual management.
– Provides dependable equipment control systems to the operation.

Facility Maintenance

– Has the operational knowledge and understanding of the following machinery and equipment:
– Familiar with the physical locations of electrical panels, switchgear, and sources and what they control.
– Familiar with fire suppression system, where riser locations are and what to do in case of this system being active.
– Familiar with the chillers, function of operation, how to reset, what they feed and how to isolate.

Maintenance

– Performs the following tasks on manufacturing machinery and equipment:
– Performs system startups and operational checkouts on systems including configurations, wiring, calibration, grounding, and power testing.
– Reloads and reboots PCs and PLCs to restore faulted equipment.
– Performs preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
– Provides hardware and software applications support assistance to engineers, maintenance, and operations.
– Sets up and configures replacement boards and assemblies to fit specific applications.
– Specifies, organizes, and maintains adequate spare parts and modules for control and instrumentation systems.
– Maintains To Do lists and systems trouble reports and routinely reports status.
– Participates in the development of project scopes, design of systems, and functional specifications.
– Utilizes technical materials such as equipment manuals, system drawings, process and instrument diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
– Participates in cross functional process improvement teams to drive plant performance thro gh improved processes and system control systems performance.

General and Administrative

– Completes and fills out required paperwork, logs, and related materials.
– Mentors, supports, and assists other Maintenance Technicians
– Assists Maintenance management in training employees.
– Carries out activities in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
– Assists with facility start-up and closing as required.
– Follows Weaver attendance policy, guidelines, and core values.

Requirements

Required:

– High School Diploma or Equivalency

Preferred:

– 2 – 3 years of qualified maintenance experience
– Education – 2-year degree from a technical or trade school
– Five to Seven years of qualified maintenance experience
