Substitute Nurses Needed for West Mifflin Area School District and the 2024-2025 School Year!

While we are searching for candidates to substitute on a day-to-day basis as they are available, there are currently three (3) full-time vacancies currently open in the district. The candidates considered for these vacancies will begin working as full-time substitute school nurses on a temp-to-hire basis for a probationary period of approximately 30 -60 days (as determined by the district). All candidates must have Registered Nurse license and PA School Nurse certification (or be willing to obtain this certification). . Temp-to-hire School Nurse vacancies are currently open at the following schools: Clara Barton Elementary Homeville Elementary Walnut Grove Christian School (1/2 day am, 1/2 day pm at the other districts schools)

The day-to-day substitute nurse positions will be filling in for the school nurse(s) or occasionally providing extra help with athletics; physicals and documentation. Prefer candidates flexible enough to work at any of the schools in the district, however, we offer a lot of freedom and flexibility with scheduling: as long as the openings are available, you choose if you can and want to work that particular absence or opening. If the candidate is already working, either full-time or part-time, these positions are often flexible enough to supplement the candidates schedule. For example: weve had candidates fill in only once or twice a month as their hospital schedule allowed.

Day-to-day Substitute School Nurses: $25/hr

Temp-to-hire School Nurses: $25/hr (probationary period)

Clearances required within the last year:

– PA Criminal Background Check
– PA Child Abuse Clearance
– FBI fingerprints through the Dept. of Education
– Act 126/31 Clearance (online Mandated Reporter training) 
– Arrest/Conviction Record form (Act 24) and Act 168 clearance (Precision will provide these forms for the candidates to complete)
– Pre-employment physical and TB test required (neither should be more than 1 year old)

Additional Requirements: 

– Must have valid RN license. “School Nurse” certification is not required, however, those candidates under consideration for a full-time position may be required to obtain the “School Nurse” certification.
