JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for daily quality checks
in a multitude of areas. Checks include process review, documentation,
and product inspection. This position provides support to Production,
Warehouse, Sanitation, Purchasing, and Maintenance departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Conduct daily food safety & quality in-process checks, including
data entry, and report issues to authorized production
personnel/quality management to work to resolve
– Conduct label reviews (CQP) to ensure compliance to customer,
regulatory, and internal requirements
– Review Production quality & food safety documentation to ensure
documents are complete, accurate, and legible as well as review for
any pertinent issues warranting further investigation
– Conduct physical product testing (internal & customer) including,
but not limited to, weight checks, bake-out, strength, diameter,
length, overwrap, etc.
– Verify Production pre-startup inspection to ultimately release the
line/machine as approved for production
– Perform post-cleaning and pre-operational evaluations to ensure
sanitary standards are met (i.e., ATP testing, visual inspections,
etc.)
– Maintain quality spreadsheets, data entry, and records
– Conduct Production inspections to ensure compliance to regulatory
agency, SQF Code, and internal requirements
– Conduct finished product sampling and microbiological laboratory
analysis based on customer & internal requirements
– Provide Production line/machine support (including packing)
– Assist with quality issues and food safety issues based on
in-process checks, case audits, or requests by production, quality,
or management
– Assist with Finished Product Retention program
– Complete analytical testing as defined by supervisor
– Coach all new and current employees on quality and food safety
practices and issues
– Other duties as assigned by supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

– Involves clerical, analytical, and organizational skills
– Attention to detail and ability to use measuring equipment required
– Able to identify and accurately report defective materials, food
safety hazards, and potential product contaminants
– Must have good communication and organizational skills
– Able to read, analyze, and follow directions
– Must be able to speak, listen, and effectively communicate with team
members and actively participate in meetings
– Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw a
valid conclusion
– Able to adhere to Good Manufacturing Policies (GMP) and abide by all
procedures pertaining to allergen control
– Involves regular computer systems/software operation and use of
office equipment
– Must have full use of arms and legs, be able to stand on a
continuous basis, and be able to climb stairs to access all areas of
the plant and offices regularly
– Must possess manual dexterity and perform repetitive tasks up to 12
hours per day
– Must be able to frequently: walk, use hands to grip, pinch, handle,
reach, or feel
– Must be able to occasionally: lift up to 30 lbs., push or pull with
up to 30 lbs. of force, stoop, kneel, climb or squat
– Adherence to the company attendance policy is required, which
includes expectations of punctuality and limited unapproved absences
– Must be highly motivated and able to work well independently and in
a team environment
– Must have a demonstrated record of professionalism, cooperation, and
excellent communication
