JOB DIMENSIONS:

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, sets up and operates sandblasting machine; and performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to:

Assembly Manager

###

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

– Receives parts;
– Picks up parts with forklift from degreaser;
– Operates sandblaster to sandblast parts;
– Fills washing machine reservoir with water;
– Checks sand levels;
– Controls air pressure;
– Blows parts clean with air gun;
– Sets parts outside sandblast booth;
– Tapes threads using heat resistant tape for thread protection;
– Plugs openings prior to sandblasting surfaces;
– Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
– Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

Experience/Training/Education:

Some experience operating sandblasting or related painting equipment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

– Ability to read and interpret painting instructions;
– Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers;
– Ability to operate forklift truck;
– Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
– Knowledge of material specifications and sandblasting methods and techniques; and
– Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

– Ability to stand for extended periods of time;
– Ability to lift, move, and carry materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or less;
– Ability to reach, bend, lean, and stretch in order to sandblast various surfaces; and
– Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;
– Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.

Special Requirements:

Appropriate company certification as a forklift operator.
