Begin your journey as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music and Music Industry at the State University of New York at Oneonta, starting Fall 2025. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.

The Department of Music, a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), has long been recognized for its Bachelor of Arts in Music and Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry degree programs. Duties include but are not limited to:

Teaching voice students, directing/conducting vocal ensembles, and teaching undergraduate courses in music theory, literature, history, and the general music and music industry curricula.

Providing departmental and university service, advising students, and engaging in ongoing scholarship, creative activities, and professional growth.

Additional duties may include teaching music electives or courses that address specific curricular needs or the candidates areas of expertise, as well as other courses to fulfill departmental needs.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in music or related field of study (ABD considered; completion required by date of appointment)

Two or more years of professional experience in vocal music performance and conducting.

Background in a range of vocal styles, including classical and contemporary genres such as Hip Hop, Gospel, R&B, or other contemporary genres.

Two or more years of successful experience teaching at the college/university, conservatory, or specialized music school level.

Preferred:

Collaborative piano capabilities

International profile as a performer and/or vocal music pedagogue

Music industry knowledge

Music technology background

Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations
