Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Technician/Administrative Support Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA-Defense Spectrum Organization (OS52). Responsibilities Develops engineering algorithms and models using modern software languages and modeling environments. Assists in testing algorithms and models, to include generating test cases and expected data. Prepares reports and presentations under supervision of an engineer. Development of the incumbent through on-the-job experience and training covered by a formal training program. Engineering trainees receive specific instructions on the manuals to use, procedures to follow, and the end product to be obtained. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Student Interns qualify based on their educational achievements. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: For the GG-02 grade level: Completion of a High school diploma or equivalent. For the GG-03 grade level: Completion of 1 full academic year of post high school study. For the GG-04 grade level: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associates degree. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: Upon successful completion of their academic program and the Internship program, interns may be converted to a GG or permanent position in the excepted service consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potential for this opportunity is a GG 854/855/1550 5/7/9 up to the full performance level of GG 09. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Individuals converted to a position in the competitive service may be subjected to participation in an agency formal development program. Selected applicants must maintain good academic standing, remain students as long as they are employed under the student program, perform their jobs successfully, and meet any other component-specific requirements outline in their Participant Agreements. At management discretion this position maybe converted to permanent position within 120 days of successful degree completion. Conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed for participants and is dependent (among other things) on the employees successful completion of the Agency student-program requirements. Management may select at any grade level advertised in this announcement and promotion is not guaranteed. Candidates selected through this announcement may be offered non-competitive promotion opportunities to developmental positions in the full performance work level of the Cyber Excepted Service if chosen for conversion to a permanent position at the end of their student program appointment.
