Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Conveyance Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Conveyance Engineer for logistics, automation, and model change support.

The primary responsibility of this role is to create, manage and improve TMMK’s automated delivery systems, and to lead model changes and improvement projects to daily conveyance operations.

The person in this role will support operations of Plant 1 and 2 automated deliveries, interact with assembly, plastics and body weld production, conveyance, and maintenance personnel to ensure system and equipment upgrades are made according to schedule and budget.

This position is based in Georgetown, KY. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location. This is an on-site role.

What you’ll be doing

New model introduction including dock layout, parts list confirmation, packaging confirmation, dolly design and confirmation.

Communication to weld pilot and conveyance pilot to assure safe & efficient process set up.

Mass production conveyance engineering including dock layout changes, equipment procurement and modifications, kaizen delivery systems including safety kanban.

Automation and innovation for material handling, benchmarking, capital and operating budget planning and ringi management, as well as project planning and implementation experience.

Plant PIV working group input and action implementation, safety communication across weld & conveyance engineering, implement PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) x pedestrian separation countermeasures, and implement standards set by working group for PIVs.

Write conveyance project ringi for new models, and for conveyance operations. Order, procure, and install material handling equipment for conveyance groups. Budget and forecast gentani based on historical projects, as well as Yokoten successful platforms across plant/region.

Work with cross-functional working groups with conveyance and production for delivery efficiency. Lead weekly meetings for open item discussion, dock layout and route delivery support. Implement kaizen for delivery systems (Kara kuri, Sara sara, parent/child dollies).

What you bring

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or similar equivalent technical degree or 5 years of equivalent professional experience in an logistics role for automotive manufacturing.

Experience with equipment design and modifications, technical specifications, and implementation of conveyance equipment, including support at start up.

Experience with new equipment installation/old equipment demo.

Experience with equipment manufacturers (domestic and overseas) for logistics and automation installations.

Experience with manufacturing plant systems for regional compliance, such as environmental, assets, control of hazardous energy, ISO, PIV’s or similar plant systems.

Experience leading and coordinating project activity related to productivity and cost for daily production, including new product introduction and/or model change.

Experience managing milestones and resources drawing to SOP including process development, equipment and tool spec and procurement.

Added bonus if you have

Automated Mobile Robot (AMR) automation experience.

Experience in automotive assembly plant.

Experience in model change with knowledge of vehicle structure and vehicle systems.

Knowledge and implementation experience with PLC and human machine interface.

Experience writing procedures for shop level standards, such as assembly engineering instructions or similar shop flow procedures.

Experience with manual and autonomous logistics systems.

Experience with robot system design and installation. Experience with vision systems and automated barcode detection applications.

Experience managing shop space allocation and plant processing layout.
