Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.

NOTE:

Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.

NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Job Concepts

Function of Work:

To perform a wide variety of clerical duties that requires independent judgment to accomplish in support of the staff members and/or operations of an organizational unit or program.

Some discretion is required in the performance of these duties. Duties begin to expand in scope and complexity, and develop into departmental-program duties.

General from higher-level clerical and/or supervisory personnel.

Supervision Exercised:

May supervise 1-2 lower-level personnel.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from Administrative Coordinator 2 by the presence of responsibility for clerical duties that involve greater scope and complexity, including initial program duties.

Differs from Administrative Coordinator 4 by the absence of paraprofessional duties that involve a higher degree of specialization, complexity, and/or independent judgment.

Examples of Work

This Administrative Coordinator 3 will function as a Community Health Worker (CHW) performing outreach and administrative functions at the Parish Health Unit systematically identify, track and refer health-related social needs of the community and determine eligibility. Acts as the administrative partner between these clients and health and social services in the community; linking clients with community services that may address their health-related social needs (i.e. housing instability, food insecurity, utility needs, interpersonal violence, and transportation needs).

75% Meets patients in the parish health unit and conduct a needs assessment survey, including helping patients to set health goals. Makes weekly follow-up calls and home visits to patients. Motivating patients to meet their health goals. Helping patients with social issues like homelessness, substance abuse and hunger. Assists patients with organizing their records. Making follow-up appointments, and filling their prescriptions. Help patients fill out applications for Medical Assistance and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). Work with other CHWs and staff to create a directory of community resources (e.g. food banks, housing assistance programs, childcare resources, etc.) in St. Landry parish.

20% Document each patient encounter in detail. Prepare reports and documents as needed or requested. Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines in regard to patient information. Identifies and documents systems barriers in efforts to connect clients to health and social services. Provides input into the developments and implementation of community programs created in response to the identified needs. Attend a weekly group meeting with other CHWs and program supervisors
