Job Summary:
The Chemistry Supervisor is responsible for all chemical processes within the power plant site as well as supervising Chemical Technicians to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures as well as safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Promotes productivity and teamwork in assigned area with open communication, timely decision making, and use of personal leadership skills to set high standards of performance while providing the direction necessary to achieve that performance

Ensures all Company resources are utilized in a cost effective manner, estimates resource requirements, monitors expenditures, and reports on performance of assigned area
Assigns work and holds employees accountable for their performance
Performs field inspections of job sites and work in progress
Provides chemically related troubleshooting/consulting expertise
Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them
Responsible and accountable for the content and accuracy of Lab reports (Lab Services, Chemical Leader only)
Supports and coordinates Operations/Maintenance problem solving and performance programs
Performs work within assigned area, as described in the Chemical Technician or Specialist job description (Leader only)
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment and/or out of doors work environment. (Including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations)
Requires occasional travel outside service area
Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required
May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
Minimum Requirements:
Supervisory experience
Six (6) years of related chemical experience OR
Eight (3) years’ relevant power plant chemistry experience
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Knowledge of power plant systems and operations with comprehensive knowledge in power plant chemistry including, but not limited to:
Knowledge of boiler and cooling water chemistry
Knowledge of water treatment technology and chemical cleaning
Knowledge of demineralizer operation and maintenance
Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
Demonstrated effective leadership and personnel management skills
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization
Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals
Ability to use a personal computer and standard business software
Ability to read, create and follow written policies and procedures
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a normal office environment and/or out of doors work environment. (Including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations)
Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
Requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
