Job Overview:

To perform a variety of secretarial duties for assigned unit.

Scheduling Requirements:

FT Day

Essential Functions:

Transcribe dictation, type correspondence, memos, reports, minutes, etc,

Proof typed materials, make corrections and recommend changes

Copy and or fax as necessary

Handle incoming and outgoing mail; open, sort and prioritize

Answer routine inquires

Facilitates scheduling of inpatients to outside referring facilities and inpatient Ambulatory Care

Assist in setting up office systems

Maintain files and established departmental and hospital policies and procedures

Order and maintain supplies and equipment

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience

One to three years general clerical experience

Hospital experience preferred

A knowledge of related medical terminology is preferred

Experience with various computer word processing software packages

Accuracy and speed in typing

Knowledge of rules of spelling, grammar and punctuation

Good organizational skills and ability to work independently

Good verbal and written English communication skills

Tact and courtesy in dealing with others

Ability to maintain confidentiality information
