Use hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand-soldering, or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.
Vision-sight, able to distinguish colors, hearing, hand-eye coordination, depth perception, have good equilibrium, dexterity, ambidextrous (being able to perform individual tasks with either the left or right hand; or perform different tasks with each hand simultaneously), need both feet or prosthesis (one foot to stand on & one foot to operate floor pedal because both hands are being used), cannot be claustrophobic, be able to handle high temperatures (will be wearing a helmet & fire retardant jacket), reading, writing, some math aptitude and speaking English. Be physically capable of doing repetitive light to heavy lifting, carrying and moving.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
· Weld repair non-ferrous alloy casting defects, by following the customer repair procedures and by using work instructions
· Achieve quality welds and assuring conformance to internal operating procedures and customer specifications.
· Welder must be tested and certified prior to any weld repair.
· Welder certification is good for three years then must be recertified.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Lift up to 50 lbs. at waist level and up to 30 lbs. at shoulder level on an occasional basis when moving products
· Push or pull with up to 50 lbs. of force on an occasional basis when moving products
· Generate up to 60 lbs. of grip strength on an occasional basis with each hand while handling products
· Generate up to 10 lbs. of pinch strength on an occasional basis with each hand while handling product
· Display average coordination with both hands on a continuous basis while performing job tasks
· Perform elevated work on an occasional basis when handling products
· Stoop, kneel or squat on an occasional basis when handling products
· Reach forward and to the side on a frequent basis when handling products
· Stand on a continuous basis and walk on a frequent basis during the course of each shift
· Able to perform repetitive tasks up to 12 hours per day
