Visit www.atf.gov Responsibilities This position is located under the Office of Enforcement Programs and Services, National Firearms Act Division, Government Support Branch in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a serve as a Supervisory Firearms and Explosives Services Specialist responsible for assignments that are complex, diversified, and highly technical and directly related to the regulated firearms and explosives industries. Assures timely and accurate dissemination of information to industry members to assist in their voluntary compliance with laws and regulations and evaluates industry trends to develop long-range planning. Oversees the development of plans, goals, and objectives for programs; evaluates automated systems and develops criteria to evaluate programs; evaluates and interprets policies and procedures and develops recommendations for the solution of operational problems; works to enhance agency/industry relations, reduction of violent crime, and protection of the public. Typical duties will include: Exercises full supervisory authority over Firearms and Explosives Specialists, Program Analysts, and other administrative and technical support personnel assigned within the immediate office of the Branch. Advises the Branch Chief and other management officials of deficiencies in the Branch and coordinates necessary changes to address both short-term and long-range program and operational needs. Evaluates and interprets policies and procedures and develop recommendations for the solution of operational problems; work to enhance agency/industry relations, reduction of violent crime, and protection of the public. Provides technical expertise, guidance, advise, and information concerning the functions and operations of the Branch to other bureau offices, Federal, State, and local agencies; and establishes and maintain liaison with the firearms industry. Qualifications To qualify for GS-13 candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience include: Managing or leading a team; AND Applying knowledge of the firearms and/or explosives laws and regulations administered by the Bureau as well as administrative and technical ability; AND Providing technical advice and support to industry members, managers and field investigators on firearms and explosives services matters.
