JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for meeting production goals by leading all direct/indirect employees involved in fabrication, paint, assembly, welding, and packing operations, while fostering an environment of collaboration and respect. Working in collaboration with cross-functional department teams while effectively meeting and executing production schedules. The Production Supervisor plays a critical role of meeting performance-to-promise goals. This Production Floor leadership position oversees multiple shift activities, training and development of personnel, and is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and on time delivery. The Production Supervisor leads by example and holds all subordinates/direct reports accountable to all company procedures and policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs adequate line balancing of manufacturing operations to optimize personnel and equipment utilization. Ensures daily and weekly production expectations are metby effectively communicating and coaching the team to achieve department safety, quality and production goals.
2. Reviews production schedules with Plant Manager to determine if there are any equipment, material or manpower deficiencies that might hinder their completion.
3. Analyze safety incidents, quality problems, production machinery and downtime events to determine root cause and develop corrective and preventative actions.
4. Utilizes a variety of reports, records and production documentation to understand the daily production requirements. Reports shift performance results in accordance with prescribed standards, using assigned tools.
5. Leads the improvement of operational methods and processes by recommending changes in materials, equipment and procedures, in order to enhance quality and attain product cost reductions. Utilizes continuous improvement methods and tools including partnering with other departments as needed in order to maintain and sustain Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Directs efforts to make adjustments to the process to ensure quality and production expectations are met while monitoring production processes.
6. Works in conjunction with the Manufacturing Training Coordinatorin the training and development of production personnel so they can perform their duties effectively.
7. Ensures production employees are properly trained on safety procedures, machine operation, quality criteria, product specifications and any other procedures related to their job. Recognizes unsafe conditions and practices and takes action to prevent injuries and property loss
8. In partnership with Human Resources, responsible for employee performance evaluations and counseling.
9. In partnership with Human Resources, responsible for interviewing, hiring, terminating and promoting employees.
10. Responsible for the scheduling of personnel, PTO approval, tracking of attendance/Absenteeism, counseling in regards to attendance issues, and general monitoring of Time Attendance of production Personnel
11. Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations are followed.
12. Effectively communicates with cross-functional team members and resolves personnel problems in a timely manner.
13. Motivates employees and promotes positive morale by listening to suggestion and using two-way communication.
14. Openly and honestly communicates with all CPI employees to build trust and effective teamwork. Encourages employee involvement in achieving a shared objective towards CPI goals and values.

Technical Competencies

– Bachelors degree is strongly preferred in administration, manufacturing, industrial, or another related field.
– Minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing/industrial experience, five (5) of which should include supervisory experience.
– Ability to work well within group situations and the ability to deal effectively with conflict in a mature and consistent manner.
– Good overall knowledge of manufacturing processes.
– Good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
– Requires a very high level of initiative; capable of working with minimum supervision.
– Exhibit a coaching and mentoring style of leadership.
– Ability to read and understand blueprints
– Basic computer skills including use of e-mail and Words and Excel software.
– Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends.

– Frequent sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and climbing
– Motor coordination skills.
– Gross and manual dexterity
– Frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
