Recreation Center Assistant Supervisor

Job Description

– Plans and provides instruction of a variety of recreational activities

– Conducts regular safety checks of the area, and immediately reports any problems to the supervisor

– Assists in the maintenance of records and completion of reports (Participation Usage – —-

– Reports, time cards,

incident/accident reports, etc.) as directed.

– Helps plan, implement and publicize special events.

– Tracks inventory of supplies and notifies supervisor when additional supplies are required.

– Assists the staff and maintenance personnel to ensure that the area is neat and free of health and safety hazards.

– Assists the Recreation Supervisor with the selection and supervision of part-time and seasonal staff.

– Maintains, and enforces the policies and area ground rules, under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor.

– Develops, delivers, and oversees appropriate programs and activities, to include activity/room set up and the

selection of recreational activities to ensure suitability for individual and group interests, needs, and capabilities.

– Reports need for repair of maintenance work on buildings, equipment, or facilities.

– Writes news releases for radio, TV and newspaper.

– Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

– Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associates Degree in recreation, leisure services, physical education, or related field; and

– One (1) year of experience in the instruction and oversight of various recreational and athletic activities.

Or

Combination of education, training, and/or work experience equal to or higher than the requirements listed above as determined by Human Resources. null
