Education and Digital Initiatives Specialist

Introduction

The Education and Digital Initiatives Specialist will be responsible for providing support to enhance the use and access of information, and support for tools and practices that are used by Faculty and Residents engaged in education, research, scholarship, and publishing. Working in cooperation with the Knowledge Management team the Education and Digital Initiatives Specialist will assess current research, scholarship, and publishing policies and workflows and implement efficiencies through best practices, innovation, and technology.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Advise and assist Faculty and Residents on research and scholarship processes

Oversee scholarly output database and/or tools

Create/Update/Maintain knowledge management and information portals for GME Operations, Faculty and Residents

Monitor and report on HCA’s Graduate Medical Education research impact

Collaborate on the assessment of current GME curriculum and resources and new initiatives needs

Provide access to information through outreach, interlibrary loan, resource acquisition, and mediated literature searches

HIGHLY PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Working knowledge of and interest in copyright, scholarly communication, bibliometrics, and open source publishing

Previous experience in a healthcare-related education environment

Previous experience in the use of technologies, resources, and tools used in instructional design, publishing, and/or research and information services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION

Master of Library Science Degree (MLS, MLIS, MSLS, etc.) from an ALA-accredited institution. Preferred educational emphasis in digital initiatives or technology.

0-3 years in healthcare, academic, or corporate environment

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Excellent presentation skills

SKILLS

Ability to think strategically, critically analyze and synthesize data and scientific information

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects

Ability to create and maintain metadata, metadata standards, and vocabularies

Ability to create and present engaging instruction for educational initiatives

Ability to adopt and learn new technologies, practices, and tools quickly

Proficient in the use of computers and software for word processing, database management, spreadsheet, and presentation graphics

Anticipated travel for this position is as follows: 1% maximum for out-of-state travel. 1% maximum for in-state travel. Travel will always be predicated by the needs of the business.
