The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2025. Candidates must be able to teach Introduction to Sociology and at least one other Sociology course. Most significantly, candidates must be able to assist in developing and growing a Human Services major and create Human Services courses. Candidates must also demonstrate teaching effectiveness, a scholarly agenda, and a willingness to engage in departmental and college-wide service, particularly student advisement. Faculty at FSC carry a 4-4 teaching load.

All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentation, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. The service component of the workload includes student advisement as well as active participation on departmental, school and college-wide committees.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. in Human Services, Social Welfare, Social Work, Sociology or a related field by the time of appointment.

Ability to teach courses at the college level.

Research agenda.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience teaching Introduction to Sociology.

Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.

Additional Information:

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, September 25, 2024, and ending Tuesday, October 8, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

SALARY: $75,000 $4,000 in downstate location pay = $79,000 Total Compensation.
