Peeler Operator

We are seeking skilled PS8 and PSP Operators for our Morbark Peeler operations. The ideal candidates will have experience operating Morbark equipment, ensuring efficiency and safety while maintaining high production standards.

Pay: $14 – $16 per hour, based upon experience

KJS Forest Products, LLC is a mill located in Guin, AL, producing posts, pilings, and poles used in agricultural, marine, and utility markets.

Duties/Responsibilities

– Operate and monitor PS8 and PSP peeler machines.
– Ensure quality control of peeled logs and wood products.
– Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
– Must be willing to cross-train in other areas of the facility.
– Set up and adjust saw equipment and replace blades or bands using wrenches, gauges and other hand tools
– Utilize woodworking tools like hand-held router, table saw, band saw, miter saw, sander, etc. when necessary
– Perform daily preventative maintenance of the mill including repair planning
– Ensure quality assurance of lumber product output
– Stack and sort materials
– Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations and utilizing safety equipment
– Clean and organize the sawmill regularly
– Adhere to safety protocols

Requirements/Skills

– High School Diploma or equivalent
– Good measuring and math skills
– Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced, noisy environment in all weather conditions.
– The ability to twist, bend, and lift 50 lbs. repetitively
– Self-motivated, ability to work independently, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
– General computer knowledge/experience and attention to detail
– Must be willing to work and be trained
– Pass a physical examination and drug test
