Job Description

The Program Manager, Turbine Maintenance, will be expected to provide leadership and coordination of all activities from planning and design through implementation to Program closeout and review, all in a safe, reliable and cost-effective manner. The Program Manager performs a wide range of duties including some or all the following:

Plan the Program

Define the scope of the program in collaboration with senior management.

Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully continue the program.

Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the program.

Review and evaluate ongoing program resource allocation, to promote efficiency and continued results in line with objectives.

Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization

Review the program schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the Program activities; revise the schedule as required.

Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve successful outcomes of the program.

Organize and Implement the Program

Execute the program according to the program objectives.

Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization

Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant regulatory and professional standards

Develop methods to document program activities and oversee the collection and maintenance of records related to the program.

Monitor the progress of the program and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the program.

Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the program.

Staff the Program

In consultation with the appropriate manager(s), recruit, interview and select staff with appropriate skills for the program activities.

Manage program staff in accordance with the established policies and practices.

Ensure that personnel files are properly maintained and kept confidential.

Ensure that all program personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the program.

Ensure all requalification and training objectives are met.

Contract qualified consultants to work on the program as appropriate in accordance with organizational guidelines.

Control the Program

Communicate program activities and operations to management and interested parties.

Develop reports on the program for management.

Monitor and approve all budgeted program expenditures.

Review the quality of the work completed with the program team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the program standards.

Manage all work according to established policies and procedures

Ensure that all business and financial records for the program are up to date.

Evaluate the Program Results

Ensure that the program deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality necessary to meet regulatory guidelines.

Evaluate the outcomes of the program as established during the planning phase.

Other Skills and Expectations

In addition to the above, the incumbent will be expected to maintain a level of professional involvement with outside organizations such as Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), American Nuclear Society (ANS), and/or Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) or other such organizations within sphere of influence in order to stay current with industry standards.

When applicable, incumbent will be expected to obtain necessary qualifications and to fulfill all NERO expectations for the role.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 years related experience in power plant design, operation and/or maintenance, including a minimum of 2 years’ direct supervisory experience. Demonstrated Program management experience. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and nuclear industry standards related to the area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with procurement and commercial related activities. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective data analysis, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
