ABOUT THE POSITION
This is intermediate level electrical systems work in the alteration, installation, maintenance and repair of the Citys electrical infrastructure, wires, cables and lines. An employee in this class performs preventive maintenance of the systems, and repairs system components and equipment. Employees in this class gain experience and learn progressively more difficult and complicated maintenance and repair work necessary for advancement to the full performance Electrician 2 class. Work includes inspecting, testing, diagnosing and installing system components and equipment. Work is performed under the supervision of a technical supervisor and involves physical effort and exposure to disagreeable environmental conditions.

Minimum Requirements

 

Minimum Training, Education & Experience

The following statement represents the minimum training and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests.
ANTICIPATED ELIGIBILITY
Candidates who meet all eligibility requirements within three months of the application deadline (by 1/11/25) will be admitted to this examination.  Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list but may not be hired or promoted until all requirements have been satisfied.

1. EDUCATION:
Completion of a post high-school electrician trades program from an accredited technical institute, trade school or college, including possession of a diploma indicating completion of all program curriculum requirements.

OR
1. EDUCATION:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade.

AND
2. EXPERIENCE:

Two years of experience learning the electrical trade as a helper or apprentice.
 

Physical & Medical Requirements

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.

Required Licenses & Certifications

Possession of a valid proper class motor vehicle operators license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointmen and during tenure of employment as an Electrician, if required by work assignment.
