Overview
The Staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating the developmental and functional status of pediatric and select adult patients, administering treatment, fabricating or recommending adaptive equipment and splints; documenting evaluation results and patient progress; and providing patient and family education. Demonstrates competence defined () in Staff Occupational Therapist responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care and services to patients from the age of birth to 21 years, and selected adult patients.

Responsibilities
The Staff Occupational Therapists supports, communicates, implements and enforces the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies and procedures of Nationwide Childrens Hospital.
Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and/or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identifies patients strengths and deficits; establishes long and short term goals; and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs.
Administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence; utilizes developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet each patients specific needs and achieve therapy goals; observes progress and/or changes in patients condition and modifies treatment plan accordingly.
Fabricates, recommends or provides adaptive equipment, splints or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility. Fits patient and instructs patient and family on use of item.
Educates parents on their childs treatment goals and therapy plan; instructs patients and parents on therapeutic activities to follow while in hospital or at home; documents instruction and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding.
Documents patients evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations in compliance with documentation requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations; utilizes appropriate computerized or
