The Challenge

We are looking for 4 experienced transportations workers to join our Franklin County Maintenance team.

In this role, you will:

– Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and construction of state-maintained roads and roadside features.
– Install traffic and erosion control devices, clear rights of way.
– Perform roadway grading.
– Machine unpaved roads.
– Conduct pavement repair.
– Install pipes or other drainage tasks.
– Inspect contract work and monitor manual tasks performed.
– Provide emergency response including traffic accident clean-ups, snow and ice removal, and other emergencies.
– Operate equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, tandem dump trucks, front end loaders, tractor trailers, motor graders, rollers, and other heavy equipment.
– Perform flagging operation to safely guide traffic through work zones.

What You Bring

– Knowledge of Intermediate Work Zone Safety and experience in traffic control installation.
– Experience 1 of the following: shoulder and ditch maintenance, pipe installation, or asphalt patching.
– Snow and ice removal operation experience.
– Operating experience of 2 of the following: backhoe, tandem dump truck, motor grader, front end loader, forklift, force feed loader, asphalt distributor, crack sealing machine, track excavator, skid steer or sweeper.
– A Class A Commercial Drivers License with N endorsement and ability to safely operate a Class A motor vehicle. (Dont have it? Still apply! You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire!)
– Able to receive and give effective written and verbal communications and act upon verbal and written communications.
– Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, operate equipment that vibrates, and perform essential functions in extreme hot and/or cold weather.
– Agility to climb, bend, traverse steep and uneven terrain.
– Strength to repetitively lift 50 pounds.
– Safety-toe shoes.

You will be subject to emergency call backs and scheduled night work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances.
