Description

Salary: $13.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:The Howard Park Cashier will be responsible for greeting all guests in a friendly and courteous manner, accepting admission and rental payments (cash, credit card or gift card), distributing/exchange skates for the proper sizes. Will also be responsible for tying skates back together at the end of a skate session and returning them back to the proper location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Services as a representative of the City of South Bend, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate interactions with other employees and guests.
– Performs various activities at the admission window including greeting and assisting guests, collecting payment, maintaining records of patrons entering the facility, and check-in of season pass holders.
– Always provide a high level of service to guests and program participants.
– Assists guests with ice skate rental needs; handing out skates, cleaning equipment when returned, returning skates to the proper location.
– Operate registration software to register, accept payment and make appropriate change.
– Communicate clearly and professionally with staff and guests.
– Assist with set-up and take-down of daily operations.
– Keeps a neat and clean appearance and follows all uniform requirements.
– Responsible for keeping a clean and organized workspace; this includes sweeping the floors, wiping down countertops, picking up trash, checking restrooms, and wiping down windows.
– Responsible for inspecting the facility/equipment and reporting any unsafe conditions or damaged equipment to the Supervisor on duty or to the Aquatics and Ice Manager. This includes any unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions on the ice.
– Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer First Aid and CPR effectively. Contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury. Must fill out appropriate paperwork for all incidents.
– Assist maintenance personnel with situations concerning ice conditions or shovel snow.
– Attending all in-service training, staff meetings, and pre-season training as scheduled by the Aquatics and Ice Manager.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned by the Aquatics and Ice Manager, Supervisor or other Howard Park Staff members.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

– Must be 16 years of age
– Requires interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds
– Must be able to work various shifts which include evenings, weekends and holidays.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

– Experience in cash handling, including knowledge of basic addition and s btraction preferred.
– Ability to learn on the job.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required. (Training will be provided to any individual not certified.)

EQUIPMENT:Ice Skates, skate sharpener, iPad, two-way radio, cones, First Aid kits, credit card machine

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, lift, skate, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, and crawl. The employee must be able to skate for long periods of time. Specific abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may have to lift 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:This work is performed in a building most of the time but can be exposed to various weather conditions.
