Position Summary:

Job Title: Emergency Management Planner

Full Time or Part Time: Full Time

Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Temporary

Compensation: $35-$50/hour

Travel/Location: On-site (assigned Florida location)

Mission of Role/Position Summary:

The Emergency Management Planner will play a critical role coordinating and developing emergency management planning activities and response plans. The planner will assists with Emergency Operations Center activities during a disaster or emergency event and will maintain critical situational awareness of incidents and events as assigned.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Coordinate emergency management planning activities and response plans.

Communication and coordination with all staff members working on related projects, as well as local officials, state, federal and regional organizations, and the public.

Develops operational plans to support ongoing response activities.

Develops, implements, and evaluates emergency preparedness plans, procedures, protocols, and agreements for responding to incidents.

Serve as a liaison between local first response agencies to carry out the tasks for Emergency Management Planning.

Assist communities and clients with the incorporation of federal government’s NIMS and ICS structure into emergency management operations.

Coordinate all-hazards emergency planning efforts with local officials, municipalities, public safety departments, hospitals, departments of health, transportation agencies and homeland security if applicable.

Coordinate with any local emergency planning committees to ensure statutory responsibilities are met.

Assists with execution and progress reporting of deliverables by designated deadlines.

Identifies gaps and deficiencies in planning and resources and recommends adjustments

Plan assistance from municipalities, schools, hospital, public health, fire, law enforcement, rescue, businesses, and other stakeholders to develop emergency plans.

Serve as an Emergency Operations Center representative during disasters and exercises (may require long shifts, irregular work hours, and/or overnight work).

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Solid knowledge of emergency preparedness and planning programs and principles.

Demonstrated abilities to work with complex regulations and issues.

Computer Proficiency with experience using Microsoft Office.

Excellent collaboration skills as well as the ability to work independently.

Expected Hours of Work:

Schedule may vary including long hours. Work on evenings and weekends, overnight shifts may be required. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.

Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.

Physical Demands:

Mobility required on-site with clients.

Sitting or standing for hours at a time.

Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time if needed.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.

Working Environment:

Emergency management consultants may work in an office or home environment or be deployed to the field which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

Work may be on-site with clients ex: EOC, hospital, debris sites or local government buildings.

Requirements

Experience/Education Required:

A bachelors degree in emergency management or a related field is required. Years of experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis, in addition to the minimum requirements.

3 years’ professional experience in Emergency Management Planning.

Working knowledge of the NIMS/ICS structure.

Experience/Education Preferred:

5 years experience in emergency management planning

Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)

ICS-300, ICS-400 IS-700, IS-800, E/G/L-0191, E/L-0958, O-0305

Additional Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US.

Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
