SECTOR OVERVIEW

Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.

POSITION VALUE

This leadership role provides the Environmental Operations Manager/Team Leader with opportunities to work on a wide array of interesting project types, including offshore wind, infrastructure/transportation projects, solar/battery developments, and subsea/onshore transmission projects. The Environmental Operations Manager adds value to TRCs Planning, Permitting and Licensing (PPL) practice by leading a diverse group of environmental professionals, including biologists, environmental scientists, wetlands specialists, and project managers. They will also work closely with PPL leaders (Area Managers and other Office Practice Leaders/Team Leaders/Environmental Operations Managers) in the Eastern region to address day-to-day operational items and to determine/implement overall strategies for PPL.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

Operations

  • Coordinate operations of our PPL team in New Jersey. Interface and collaborate frequently with other PPL office leaders in the Eastern region, the PPL New York Area Manager, the PPL Southern New England Area Manager, the PPL Northern New England Area Manager, the PPL Eastern Group Practice Leader, other Regional Practice Leaders, as well as TRCs National PPL Practice Leader.
  • Be responsible for growing our practice in New Jersey, providing leadership and operations experience to TRCs PPL business by performing client outreach and by providing direction on major project pursuits and general marketing.
  • Motivate high performance — profitability, budget control, accounts receivable, unbilled, proposal review and development, contract approval, and overall business management functions.
  • Contribute to the achievement of TRCs overall company business plan objectives and employee professional and career growth strategies and training. This will be provided by assisting in the growth and expansion of the companys commercial, utility, and government client bases to help achieve steady and profitable growth.
  • Build lasting legacy professional relationships with clients, employees, and key service vendors and strive to cross-sell or utilize TRC services and talent to help increase the range of services and business opportunities serving existing TRC clients and national accounts.
  • Conduct industry networking and client relationship development activities to attract and retain new business.
  • Develop plans and actions to recruit new and retain existing TRC technical professionals.
  • Plan and participate internally and externally in the development of marketing and industry/client outreach activities to maintain technical skills and attract new business and consulting talent.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of proposals and RFP bid opportunities, assess use of emerging technologies for business sector edge and services expansion, provide coaching, mentoring and experience guidance to employees.

Services Delivery

  • Prepare scopes of work, RFP responses and proposal/RFP costing for delivery of services. Coordinate and support both internal and cross-TRC business sector delivery of PPL consulting services.
  • Review, QA/QC, and successfully execute a variety of assigned project work as part of multidisciplinary internal and external project consulting teams.
  • Meet or exceed client service hour (billable) utilization targets and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Provide leadership by example over time that engages and motivates all levels of staff to build a broader PPL services delivery team.
  • Maintain quality and profitability on assigned projects, as well as assisting with managing and developing the skillsets of Project Managers and other employees use of corporate resources to ensure our projects are executed with a high level of quality, technical excellence, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate, manage, and direct development of project permitting applications, environmental resource reports, technical study reports and regulatory documents.
  • Coordinate, manage and direct the preparation and delivery of local, state, and federal project regulatory permit applications and attend pre-filing consultations, stakeholder meetings, public hearings, and other project-related meetings which may require overnight stay or travel from time to time.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects.
  • Possess strong verbal, written, presentation and excellent client management skills; demonstrated ability leading and managing complex projects; as well as being goal oriented, quality focused, and have demonstrated success with creating and fostering a team environment.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • BA/BS degree in Environmental Sciences or related fields. MS degree preferred.
  • 10 to 20 years of relevant experience in environmental regulatory permitting, strong knowledge of state and federal project siting and environmental policy and regulations with demonstrated subject matter expertise in state and federal regulatory permitting programs.
  • Efficient and effective verbal, written, and professional presentation communications skills.
  • Ability to travel with overnight stays from time to time.
  • Effective and organized time management and coordination of client matters and TRC team efforts skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading multi-disciplinary technical teams, subcontractor and vendor engagement teams and client teams with the ability to lead and manage complex multimedia projects.
  • Proven technical capabilities and relevant project experience with management and oversight of cross-disciplinary technical and regulatory specialist teams of other professionals.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver effective verbal and virtual presentations to clients, government agency personnel, and community stakeholders.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Companys annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
