Our perfect candidate will thrive in a fun and casual environment, pay it forward daily, and add value to the company byproviding Human Resources support for company owned store and leadership associates in assigned territory (including the state of California). The HR Business Partner will ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment requirements, and will lead employee relations, engagement strategies, performance and talent management, training and compliance initiatives, conflict resolution and employment policies and practices.
NOTE: We have a hybrid work week with three days in the office and two days working at home. There is no relocation assistance available for this role.
WHAT THIS ROLE DOES
Acts as the company cultural champion and ensures company values are understood and upheld.
Conducts regular calls with multi-unit leaders, providing HR guidance and partnering on people initiatives as needed.
Provides employee relations expertise for all states in assigned territory, which includes California. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations; ensures consistency against precedent and legal application of the law.
Partners with Sr. Director of HR on termination requests.
Helps facilitate performance management and progressive discipline in partnership with multi-unit and store leadership. Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to store leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Helps facilitate talent management processes including talent review, personal development planning and performance and merit review.
Completes exit interviews for salaried managers.
Helps facilitate engagement action planning in conjunction with multi-unit leaders.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of the legal requirements in the state of California and other assigned states related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
Assists with projects as assigned by Sr. Director of Human Resources.
YOUR TRACK RECORD
Bachelors degree, preferably in Human Resources or a related discipline or equivalent practical work experience.Must have 4 years experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner capacity, with a strong preference for experience in a multi-state/multi-location industry. Relevant experience in the state of California required – must be versed in California employment law and compliance for exempt and non-exempt employees.
Success in this role will require:
Experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
Some HR work experience in the retail or restaurant environment, preferred.
Experience building strong, collaborative work partnership with operations or other business units.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organizations hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications: Teams, Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook
