Summary You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the ELECTRICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMEN of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will relay supervisors instructions to both nuclear and non-nuclear electricians in assigned work group. You will set the pace and instruct employees on proper work procedures, use of tools, and safety pertaining to shipboard electrical systems. You will verify work is done in accordance with accepted procedures and/or instructions. You will give appropriate skills training utilizing shop training tools such as mock ups, in shop work areas or facilities, and on deck-plates. You will ensure records and qualifications are maintained. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: – Instructing various levels of electricians on proper work procedures and methods, use of tools, and safety pertaining to shop trade skills. – Directing crew members in the proper setting up of the shops involvement in boat arrivals, boat dry docking requirements, undocking, and berthing requirements. – Verifying work progress and ensuring that the proper protective equipment is being used and safety practices are being followed by crew members. – Ensuring crew members follow the work sequences, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. – Seeing that the necessary material, tools, blueprints, and any software and equipment is furnished and available to crew members to perform the work. – Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work orders.
