1st Shift – Shipper Operator

Summary:
Efficiently operate Shipping equipment in the approved manner and follow special handling instructions, as assigned by the supervision/management. Maintain rates, quality and production on all product.
Job Skills:
Detect and containment of non-conforming product. Notify Supervision of any discrepancies.
Basic understanding of shop floor reporting, bar coding.
Basic math skills (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division).
Must be able to fill out and put in all necessary paperwork: bill of ladings, labels, routers, inventory transactions, etc. whether on paper or in the computers.
Create customer labels, plus following customer specific instructions.
Certified Forklift Operator
Safely load and unload trucks.
Must be able to use scales, department equipment and tools defined relevant to the Shipping department.
Pack products for shipment; label and wrap, as required.
Assemble and prepare bulk packs, boxes, or barrels, totes, of parts for shipment or stock by loading per customer specifications. This will include removing old labels from reusable dunnage.
Must have a thorough understanding of Packing and Receiving Slips.
Must be familiar with the location and use of procedures, instructions and documentation used in the Shipping Department.
Perform scheduled preventative Maintenance activities on equipment.
Job Tasks:
Pull products that need to ship per shipping, sheet, report, Supervisor and/or Sales Department.
Notify Supervisor when scheduled parts are not available to ship.
All shipments for the day should be completed and shipped or made ready for the trucks to pick up. Keep material flowing and timely.
Pull parts going to outside secondary, weight and wrap them.
Handle manufactured products properly to not cause damage.
Turn packing slip into Shipping Supervisor daily.
Organize daily and weekly shipments and the tracking of them.
Load or move parts (drums, racks, trays, baskets, skids, or boxes). Notify Supervisor of any irregularities in production or equipment.
Assist training other employees.
Follow special handling instructions.
Keep up with assigned work.
Keep equipment clean and area organized and free of debris.
Material Handling — ability to operate Forklift, hoists, barrel carts, lift carts, hand trucks or lifting devices
