Description

SAIC is seeking a Space Protection Mission Engineer to join the National Security and Space (NSS) Sector providing systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The customer is developing the next generation of space and ground systems, architectures, and hardware and software solutions.

The Space Protection Mission Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and System Program Office (SPO) representative coordinating with the development contractor and stakeholders (including end user operators) for deployment of new protection capabilities into space operations. The Space Protection Mission Engineer collaborates within a team of mission-related SMEs to coordinate the system development, requirements verification testing (and sell-off), identification of discrepancies, and mission validation testing.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Serves as a technical expert overseeing software development, implementation, and deployment of space protection ground systems.

Collaborates within a team of SMEs to produce technical plans, guide acquisition progress, integrate ground processing and space systems, and monitor continuous integration/continuous deployment of space protection software.

Provides technical expertise for agile planning meetings, solution development, and contract deliverable assessments.

Assisting Contracting Officer Technical Representative(s), developers, and other stakeholders to refine requirements, concepts of operations (CONOPs), system designs, and software testing.

Creating and delivering briefings to engineering boards on engineering and acquisition decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s and 2 or more years experience.

Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly.

Ability to apply engineering knowledge/skills to support space protection system analysis, planning, and development in one or more of the following areas: astrodynamics, missioning planning and scheduling, remote sensing, software engineering, space domain awareness, space-related data communications and processing, or spacecraft engineering.

Experience with a space or ground software system and concept of operations development.

Prior experience developing, testing, or fielding IT or mission systems.

Exceptional communication and coordination skills.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in space domain awareness systems, activities, or operations.

Experience within the IC.

Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies .

Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA.
