Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will NOT be accepted through this flyer. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. Responsibilities Ensures that all collected data meets quality requirements before turn-in. Responsible for making sure all project information is set up prior to field work. Adapts to changing conditions and goals, ability to adapt as the requirements on any given day can be subject to changes. Collects hydrographic data with field surveys using state of the art equipment and gear utilizing hydrographic and Global Positioning System (GPS) knowledge. Leads a crew in the field for work with minimal supervision often in remote locations. In charge of a vessels and all associated crews for the period of work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-09 Specialized Experience: One-year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working in land/hydrographic surveying, drafting, field data collection and principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods; and 2) Experience leading field crews in survey work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). GS-10 Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience which includes: 1) Working in land/hydrographic surveying, drafting, field data collection and principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods; 2) Experience leading field crews in survey work with minimal supervision; and 3) Setting up projects from start to finish with little input from supervisor or higher graded personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone–no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
