Warehouse Worker
Aerotek
Job Title: Freight Handler
Job Description
Candidates will work primarily in Unloading and Receiving. They will unload 18-wheelers, palletize labeled materials, and use the conveyance system to integrate products into the system. Cross dock functions involve moving products directly to shipping without adding to inventory, with flexibility for labeling and moving products to the shipping area as needed. Candidates will manage freight flow manually, identify, separate, count, combine, and scan freight using Warehouse Management System terminals, scales, and scanners. They must handle and process freight safely, report unsafe conditions, and maintain a clean work area. If moved to loading, they will load trucks with heavy products on the bottom and lighter ones on top. This labor-intensive job requires consistent loading and unloading. Candidates will also enter and locate information on computers or communication devices and may need to write reports. The job involves minimal walking but significant lifting and loading near the dock all day.
Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).
Work Environment
The distribution center is not climate controlled, leading to hot and tiring conditions in the summer. The one-million-plus square feet building is 30 years old, with some dust and occasional spills of grocery items. Shorts must be no more than 6 inches above the knee, and tennis shoes with covered heels and toes are preferred. Pants and shorts must be worn at waist level. No shirts with large logos, offensive pictures, or controversial language are allowed. Contract associates may need to wear vests at all times, and replacements are not provided.
