The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) Program has responsibility to acquire critical Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) for utilization within FMS Command, Control, Communications, Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, as well as other FMS programmatic efforts. The MDA FMS CDS Systems Engineer will execute the mission strategy to develop and deliver integrated, certified FMS CDS capabilities that will enable the US and Coalition forces to operate at the speed of relevance. This involves the development of next generation warfighter operations in all phases of systems evolution from concept exploration, through integration, experimentation, testing, verification, and fielding.
We are seeking an experienced technical engineering leader, and a critical thinker with deep technical skills and a demonstrated track record of fostering, promoting, and fielding innovative ideas and solutions. This is a Principal System Engineer Step, Huntsville-based or McLean Based, position. Location supports close working relationship with the government sponsor located at the Redstone Arsenal, AL or Fort Belvoir, VA government sponsor locations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Providing strategic and technical engineering leadership as a trusted advisor to MDA FMS CDS program
Sponsor interaction – MDA senior leadership, MITRE division leadership, individual Govt personnel
Stakeholder coordination – Coordinate across enterprise to achieve outcomes benefiting MDA and the enterprise as a whole
Inform technical development, test evaluation, and integration of data distribution enterprises, requirements, and concepts of operations for Command, Control, Communication, and Computer and Intelligence (C4I)
Build partnerships and coordinate efforts across MITRE and government sponsor programs
Develop technical reports and presentations on analysis results, options, and recommendations
Present technical recommendations to government sponsors to the program acquisition strategy
Brief Senior US and Foreign Partner leadership regarding FMS CDS technology, architecture, and policy to foster potential integration needs
Lead Information Exchange Requirements (IER) Working Groups with Combatant Commands (CCMDs) and Foreign Partners to assess legacy and to-be system delivery data flows and formats with potential for FMS CDS integration
Provide Subject Matter Expert engineering support on all technical aspects of Request for Proposal (RFP) development and serve as a technical advisor during source selection activities
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, or similar technical engineering degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance the ability to acquire and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance
8 years of experience demonstrated systems engineering experience, including multi-security domain network environments
Understanding of large, complex C4I System of Systems
Understanding of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS)
Analytical, decision-making, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, or similar technical engineering degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Foreign Military Sales (FMS), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and/or enterprise-level foreign and allied partner expertise
Experience working in a multi-national military environment
Depth of knowledge and experience in Integrated Air and Missile Defense, ISR systems, and/or their dissemination architectures
Network modernization experience
Experience in requirements management and verification
Current TS/SCI
