The Business Management Lead is a global role in Business Operations and Portfolio Support, Global Clinical Operations (GCO) Central Services, responsible for supporting and enabling the GCO organization, reporting to the Head of Business Management. The Business Management Lead will be an active member of the GCO Business Management team and will collaborate closely with partners to support strategic initiatives, and assist with GCO-wide strategy, planning, enablement, and operations.

The Business Management Lead will be responsible for supporting the development and optimization of business operations processes in collaboration with a range of stakeholders from GCO and Global Development (GD). They will provide timely support, insights, and analysis in a range of disciplines to increase rigor, support strategic planning and decision making within GCO.

Primary responsibilities:

Strategy/Framework and Management of Data Requirements:

Support successful delivery of strategic objectives across GCO through effective stakeholder alignment and change management

o Support GCO access to robust, reliable, accurate, and meaningful data/metrics/information required to make informed business decisions

o Create and evolve data solutions and reports based on the GCO needs

Collaborate across functions to ensure delivery of objectives/projects to drive shared business goals, resolve issues and optimize opportunities

o Collaborate with and influence the DUs to ensure GCO needs are understood and aligned with overarching GD metrics/data etc.

Drive standardization and strategy in Business Operations and Portfolio Support activities to be more efficient, and predictable:

Support BOPS and GCO Business Management team to ensure GCO is consistently managing metrics throughout the organization

Through automation, ensure GCO is prepared to provide data and insights for regular activities

Establish uniform reporting processes, ensuring regular reviews and clear expectations across all levels.

Management Insights/Metrics/Initiatives:

Strengthen our business-focused analysis of performance metrics, emphasizing precise risk identification, effective workload planning, and strategic resource and demand management.

Provides GCO SLT pre-analyzed data with relevant context and knowledge collated from regions/countries, enabling a more efficient process and faster decision making (insights stands out).

Identifies patterns/trends/comparisons to industry benchmarks and potential issue mitigation and/or potential actions.

Understands GCO Metrics and supports as required to optimize portfolio decisions and delivery.

Provides support for the implementation of new systems, processes, tools, and AI-driven automation solutions as needed

Focus on automating data collection for greater efficiency and accuracy in metric analysis.

Identify needs and develop appropriate materials to drive consistency; educate and upskill GCO colleagues, as required.

Provide input to ad hoc requests, management reviews, etc., as requested.

Communications:

Contributes to design and content development of communications in line with the GCO Communication Strategy.

Oversee Business Management shared mailbox; triage questions and cascade information to others in GCO/GD, as appropriate.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics or similar is highly preferred

Required:

3 years of experience in clinical research, either in a direct or supporting function

Experience in managing and integrating complex, cross-functional information with competency in relevant software systems

Analytical mindset – comfortable working with joining and analyzing data

Design and optimize data visualizations for consumption by management and business partners

Experience performing data analysis using Machine Learning or other techniques to uncover new insights from clinical operations datasets, and/or create high-impact analytics web apps that enable further analysis

Proficiency in Python or R

Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal), and operate with a high sense of urgency

Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment

Ability to build relationships, influence, and drive organizational engagement

Understanding of a business matrix organization

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and operate with poise and professionalism in a complex, high-profile, and rapidly changing environment

Up to 10% travel – Domestic & International

The anticipated base pay range for this position in the US is $104,000 to $166,750.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time – up to 40 hours per calendar year
