Job Responsibilities/Duties
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) is the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. The WRPS mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat millions of gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste. This complex mission spans all competencies of engineering and science to accomplish through a highly integrated engineering organization.

We are looking for software analysts and team leaders to design, develop, test, and deploy mobile, web-based, data-driven, analytical, and/or geoinformation process software. We have a product-line of custom-built applications and tools used every day by thousands across the enterprise who are actively engaged in protecting our rivers from nuclear waste. You will be joining a team of creative software engineers committed to collaborative problem solving and first-class product development in a safety-first environment.
The Computer Scientist/Analyst is responsible for conducting scientific and/or analytical studies in support of WRPS operations and implement computational solutions, perform technical tasks, activities, and objectives.
Perform a variety of computer science/analyst duties including, but not limited to:
Develop database and software applications to support production and operational requirements as needed. Perform process software and database modifications including server applications and system hardware. Conduct software and database operability and safety evaluations in support of daily activities. Develop test cases, test plans, and coordinate testing efforts for new and existing applications. Perform maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and procedure development/review.
Perform software quality assurance and configuration management activities, develop software requirements and design, perform software development activities, perform software verification/validation, provide process control support, and ensure data quality.
Maintain knowledge of software lifecycle documentation. Maintain cognizance of any changes to assigned software applications and database. Review and approve new or changes to existing operating or maintenance procedures.
Perform and/or review scientific calculations, analyses, prepare specifications, reports, and presentations.
Perform routine administrative activities/duties on time including routine training, safety meetings, time keeping, continuing training, staff meetings, etc.
Excellent interpersonal skills & communication needed to facilitate project and operational milestones. Must be able to clearly & concisely communicate to both peers and management. Take prompt action to accomplish assigned objectives and understand/identify issues and opportunities.
Must be skilled at resolving technical & interpersonal issues without undue conflict or involving management unnecessarily. Provide direct, complete, concise feedback and support to others to prevent misunderstandings or negative consequences, especially with equipment or craft interface. Influence & facilitate effective problem solving and resolution for all operations maintenance and system issues/concerns.

Required Qualifications
Grade 14:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
Grade 15:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline; and
One (1) years of related experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Grade 16:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline; and
Two (2) years of related experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with MVC, MVVM and/or Angular.
Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), BIS, or AR/VR.
Experience with MS SQL Server, IIS Server, Visual Studio, DevOps.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively and accurately.
Satisfactory technical knowledge in current developments and trends.
Familiarity with current software quality assurance standards and software configuration management processes is preferred.
Familiarity with software development, testing, and modification to software applications and databases is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the companys philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidates qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidates prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $71,200
Hiring Range Maximum: $108,513
