Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) manages one of the most challenging radioactive waste cleanup projects in the country. Our focus is reducing the environmental risk posed by 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) seeks a Manager to support the Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF). ETF is a 24/7 operating radiological facility that receives, treats, and disposes of liquid effluents from Effluent Management Facility (EMF), 242-A Evaporator, and various on-site projects. The ETF Facility Manager leads the Shift Operations organization, which is primarily responsible for plant operation and configuration control. The organization is comprised of approximately 35 exempt professionals and bargaining unit personnel, including Shift Operations Managers, Shift Supervisors, and Nuclear Chemical Operators. The position focuses on Conduct of Operations while maintaining a safe work place that is compliant with facility and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include effective management of rotating shift staff, scheduling and integration, and overall accountability for compliant operations as needed to ensure mission objectives are successful. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Manages facility operations in accordance with established WRPS priorities, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Provides integration information to Operations and Maintenance management.
Accountable for personnel safety based on the principle of “Target Zero” injuries
Maintains awareness of, and reports to the Facility Manager plant status and readiness to operate.
Responsible for configuration control and material condition of waste processing systems and equipment.
Monitors operational efficiency & effectiveness, and recommends improvements.
Ensures work is authorized and completed in a safe & timely fashion.
Facilitates the implementation and acceptance of change and process improvements within the workplace.
Develops effective working relationships with bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit personnel, demonstrating mutual respect and cooperation.
Sets and maintains high standards of performance for self and others.
Provides recommendations to the Facility Manager for resource allocation as needed to meet facility objectives.
Ensures responses to abnormal event are conducted and reported appropriately.
Required Qualifications
Grade 21:
Bachelors degree (BA/BS) in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business or other related discipline; and
Twelve (12) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Grade 22:
Bachelors degree (BA/BS) in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business or other related discipline; and
Fifteen (15) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Desired Qualifications
Experiencing managing bargaining unit/craft personnel.
Experience with Nuclear Operations either on a Department of Energy site or commercial site.
Previous experience with DOE, DNFSB staff and regulators.
Previous experience with the Effluent Treatment Facility.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the companys philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidates qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidates prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $138,700
Hiring Range Maximum: $204,775
