Summary:

The HCS Operational Project Manager is responsible for leading major system-wide operational projects for UNC Health Care. This position will be pivotal in driving data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This role combines analytical expertise with a passion for continuous improvement and a research-driven mindset. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, experience in quality improvement, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence. This role will work collaboratively with a variety of entities, administrative individuals, teams, groups or physicians, clinicians and executives to implement these strategies creating a culture promoting well-being.

Responsibilities:

1. Data Analytics & Reporting:

Develop, implement, and maintain data collection systems that enhance data quality and analytical accuracy

Analyze complex datasets to provide actionable insights and recommendations.

Create comprehensive reports and dashboards for various stakeholders, including executives, managers, and team leaders.

Monitor data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

2. Continuous Improvement:

Create and coordinate system-wide learning groups to facilitate sharing and learning across the organization.

Organize strategic groups to help track improvement efforts and ensure knowledge transfer and best practices dissemination.

Provide necessary access to education and support for continuous quality efforts

3. Project Management:

Develops project plans, goals, and budgets identifies resources needed, develops schedules and methods for measuring results while maintaining optimum working relationships with all UNCH facilities.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of system-wide projects ensuring consistency with UNC Health Care?s strategy, commitments and goals. 4. Research & Information Management

Conduct in-depth literature reviews on best practices, trends, and benchmarks to support GROSS initiative. Synthesize findings to inform decision-making

Prepare and assist in the publication of research findings, white papers, or reports. Identify appropriate venues for dissemination.

Prepare and assist in research proposal development, writing and submission process.

5. Confidentiality – Handles confidential information with sensitivity and discretion in accordance with Privacy & Health Care System requirements.

6. Customer Focus – Creates and maintains a customer focused work environment that attracts and retains high caliber employees. Coaches and mentors employees in such a way as to obtain superior organizational engagement and performance. Monitors and evaluates performance and strives to ensure that all employees are treated fairly

7. Problem Solving – Analyzes and resolves complex issues, develops policies & procedures that maximize efficiency necessary to carry out co-locations and integrations. Ensure all proper internal controls are in place to safeguard assets of the system and satisfy internal and external regulatory requirements. Develops and monitors operating and capital budget.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.

Professional Experience Requirements:

● Five (5) years of project management experience of which 2 years of experience must be in a supervisory, management or leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

• Accountability Ability to bring project to successful completion on time and within budget through political sensitivity. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent project management abilities. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. • Excellent research and information management skills, including the ability to source, organize, and present information effectively. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies. • Familiarity with healthcare, academic, or nonprofit industries.
